Introduction

On the eastern fringes of Manchester, Ashton is in the borough of Thameside, it's about 10 minutes from Manchester Victoria by Train.[1]

The main old market burnt down a while back but this hasn't slowed the town down much, in fact planning consent to rebuild it has gone through.

Plenty of pie shops and chip places just follow your nose. To get a cup of coffee try the ubiquitous Wetherspoons or Cafe Latte on Stamford St.

Parking is dotted hither and yon in small carparks or you could just use the Lidl on the edge of the town centre.

Charity reps take note you can apply for borough this online ...

Collecting

The middle part is around a big market sq with small pedestrainised streets leading off it. Room for about 8 of you to spread out when its busy on a saturday.

Nearby in the same borough is slightly smaller Stalybridge, which is one more short stop on the train though you can get here from Piccadilly too. Tuesday is half-day closing in Stalybridge so don't go there then.
