Starting New Pages

Getting new pages into the Wiki is actually surprisingly easy.. You do of course need to be signed in but after that it's easy using one of the following approaches.

Red links

When you're moving around the wiki you've probably noticed that some links are coloured red. The reason for this is that no-one has actually created the document or saved any information in that link. From an administration point of view it's a great way of indicating to other editors that something on that topic is needed, so if you're looking for things to do that's a sure way of finding some.

To start creating a new page in this instance just click the red link and if you have permission to edit/write anything you should see the editing box and can start writing. As long as you actually save your work it'll create that page with your text in it.

Search and start

If you know that you wanted to start a page on something like a new event eg: lemon bowling you would first do a quick search using lemon bowling to check someone else hasn't already created it. If not, then simply enter: Projects:event:lemon bowling in the search box and and you'll be told

There is no page titled ":Projects:event:lemon bowling". You can create this page.

.. so all you need to do is click the red link for create this page and start typing.

URL jump and start

Just like the search and start above you can also use the address bar in your browser to start a new page so by visiting: http://wiki.ukrag.net/index.php/Projects:event:lemon_bowling you should then see a page with (There is currently no text in this page) on it and if you look up a little you'll find an edit tab to click. From there it's much the same as elsewhere.

'Note:' Remember to use the underscore _ character instead of spaces when using this approach.

Don't forget

In an attempt to try and keep things organised it helps if you use the Naming Conventions set out on this wiki so please remember to check that you're putting things in the right category, etc..
