Crewe

[1] Nice smallish pedestrianised town centre but it's 3/4 mile from the station so be warned.

Easy to get to from Manchester, Liverpool, Bangor, Stoke, Birmingham as it's on the west coast mainline,

Crewe can hold about 6-8 collectors on a saturday. Week days are very quiet.

Nearby and in the same council is prettier but smaller though richer Nantwich you may want to try getting both if there are a few of you.
