Event Ideas

This is a list of ideas for events you could run. It is in no way comprehensive but it should provide a start if you're trying to come up with something. This is a complete mix and will contain events much to big for some to organise, and likewise events that larger [RAG]s might scoff at.

It is based upon the National Autistic Society's A-to-Z that is on UKRag.net.

• Art Sale - Get randoms to paint pictures then flog it
• Auction - Get stuff or services donated and auction it
• Anti-Talent Competition - find the bravest, yet worst acts you can.
• Abseil - 1 rope, 1 tall building, some harnesses, some loonies

B

• Battle of the Bands - Basically a competition between bands, and charge to watch
• Barbeque - Have a BBQ, sell tickets
• Ball - Organise the social event of the year
• Barn Dance
• Beat the goalie - If they do, they win a prize
• Balloon Pop - Hide/Winning tickets inside some balloons and people have to try and pop them.
• Balloon Race - Release helium filled balloons with tags on them. The one that gets furthest wins a prize
• Bed race - A race. With people carrying beds
• Beerfest - A big beer festival
• Blagging Event - Sell pens and get people to swap for better things then auction the results off
• Blind Date - Set half your uni up on blind dates
• Bungee Jumping - Sponsored for charity

• Carnival
• Car Washing - Wash cars for people
• Carol Singing - Bit of a variation on a raid really
• Chocolate event - A chocolate themed event will attract people who like chocolate, i.e. everyone
• Club Night - Run one in your union
• Concert - Choir, band, orchestra, anything
• Craft sale - Make stuff and sell it

• Dog Show - Competition to show off dogs
• Duck Race - Like Balloon Race, but release plastic ducks into a river

• Easter Egg Hunt - Hide Easter Eggs for people to find
• Egg and Spoon race - A la primary school
• Endurance contest - Dance-a-thon, pie-eating-a-thon, Anything-U-Like-a-thon

• Fashion Show - Maybe have some unusual theme, like from charity shops
• Fancy Dress themed anything
• Firewalk - Walk across burning embers
• Five legged race - Good during Rag Weeks, tie three people together at the feet and try to get them to run

• Game Show - run your own version of a TV Game show
• Guess the - weight of a cake, number of smarties in a jar, name of a teddy

H

• Hitch to Dublin
• Hitch to Paris

I

• International Dinner - Organise a tasting of food drom all over the world

J

• Jailbreak
• Jelly Wrestling
• Jumble Sale

K

• Karaoke - Drunk people thinking they can sing
• Kidnapping - Kidnapp your SU President or someone for a day until they raise the ransom money

L

• Leg Waxing - it gets scarier as the chaps get hairier

• Miss University - Either normal style, or in drag...
• Mr University
• Murder mystery

• Pinata contest - Hitting something to get sweets out
• Plant sale - Get people to donate one they've grown
• Pub Crawl
• Pumpkin Carving - Best to do this at Halloween
• Pie eating contest - fastest foodie wins

• Quiz Night - for example a Pub Quiz

• Raffle
• Race Night - horses, dogs or wacky races, place your bets
• Roman Orgy - safe sex, centurions and sandals

• Scavenger Hunt - People have to find/do certain things
• Slave Auction - any excuse to get the toga out ...
• Spelling Bee - Play on everyone thinking they are the best
• Swimming - Swim the length of the channel, in a swimming pool

• Talent Contest
• Theme Nights
• Treasure Hunts - with cryptic clues
• Trolley Race - supermarket sweep meets F1

• Ugly tie contest

• Valentines - sell flowers, cards, wine, a cupid-o-gram service, lucky kisses, seranades

• Walking Event - a long sponsored walk

• X-treme Anything - Take something mundane, add a twist and create the next fad

• Yuck Bath - Sit in bath full of skank

• Zip it - A sponsored silence
• Zorbing - Throw yourself down a hill in an enormous hamsterball
