Structure and Naming Wiki PagesFrom UKRag Guides (wiki)The UKRag Wiki is based on project categories, mirroring the UKRag projects currently in discussion or completed on the forums. The category system helps keep the wiki organised, removing the need for long or complicated page names.
Page NamesPage names should encapsulate the article in a short title. Please do not capitalise common words such as a, the or to. For example: A 'How To' guide to running jailbreaks could be called “Guide to Jailbreaks” or “How to Run a Jailbreak”. Page StructuresSections and HeadingsPlease split your page into manageable sections using headers, for example, this is the structure of Writing a Press Release at the time of writing.
...and so on. Wiki code includes a number of headings that will help structure your page, and the wiki will automatically create a table of contents from these headings. You can add headings by using the following code ==Heading Level 1== ===Heading Level 2=== ====Heading Level 3==== Please do not use CAPITALS, bold or italics to mark a section – it will not be part of the contents, and will only confuse people scanning your page. ListsMany page sections may include lists, places to collect in a town, for example. Adding lists is very simple in wikitext - simply put a * before each line:
* So this * Becomes * A list CategoriesAlmost all pages within the wiki will fit into one or more categories, helping provide a structure, and provide navigational help when within the wiki. You can add a category to any page you create or edit by using the following wiki code at the bottom of the page For example: The Jailbreak page can be categorised within both the Event Guides and Projects categories, and you could add the following to the bottom of the page: Category pages, such as category:Projects will automatically alphabetise all pages within that category. You can force the page to be alpabetised in a different way - for example Writing a Press Release is under 'P', by using the following code: Categories can become a sub-category by adding their parent category as above. For example, the London Category is a subcategory of the Guide to the UK |
